A resurgent Medvedev secured his initial championship for nearly 30 months with success over opponent Moutet in the competition title decider.

The player's varied form on the professional circuit - and struggles with his serve in particular - caused him dropping out of the elite rankings and eventually separating with long-term mentor Gilles Cervara.

Presently training with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, the tennis star has gradually advanced in the last few weeks - culminating in a tightly fought competitive triumph over challenger Moutet.

This marks the player's initial trophy after the Italian tournament and maiden on a hard surface from spring of the previous year.

"This championship is in tribute of my younger daughter her name, because the initial championship I achieved when my older daughter Alisa was born was for her."

The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his last six championship matches, featuring in the German tournament previously this season.

Medvedev's retrieving approach and frequent reactions on the playing surface had caused observers to doubt if his skill to perform at the elite level was finished.

Yet the athlete has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, attempting to approach the net and play assertively, supported by an better serve.

He came back from a break down in the opening set against the difficult Moutet, securing four of the final five exchanges to take the lead.

The competitors traded break points in the second set before the Frenchman, attempting for his maiden professional victory, seized the initiative to create a decider.

The opponent rescued 4 initial break points in a competitive final set before Medvedev broke to that score to secure the win.

Fittingly, he secured the title with a point at the net area, with the Frenchman failing to manage a shot after two hours and 38 minutes.
